Gilbert (Lemuel) Cottage Upright #4637 (1850s)

Lemuel and Timothy Gilbert were early Boston makers. At times they worked together and at other times, each on their own. This cottage piano was built in the 1850s. It has a very small amount of iron reinforcement for the string tension but is primarily a wooden structure.
